Write against AWS services, then ship and debug what you wrote.

Four domains, weighted 32 / 26 / 24 / 18. 65 questions in 130 minutes, 720 out of 1000 to pass. 15 of those 65 don't count toward your score, and nothing on screen tells you which.

  • Questions weighted to the official domain split, so a mock matches the real mix
  • Every item tagged to the domain and task it tests
  • Readiness shown against 720, not as an invented percentage

Free practice across all four domains. No card required.

Last day to sit DVA-C02 is 1 December 2026. DVA-C03 registration opens 27 October 2026.

A Lambda function creates a new DynamoDB SDK client inside the handler on every invocation. Under sustained traffic, every invocation carries the client initialization cost, not just the first.

Which change removes that cost from most invocations? Select one.

One choice only. Your earliest pick was dropped.

Out of scope

AWS lists the job tasks this exam will not ask

1+ years developing and maintaining applications using AWS services. Out of scope: Designing architectures; Designing and creating CI/CD pipelines; Administering IAM users and groups; Administering servers and operating systems; Designing AWS networking infrastructure.

AI-assisted development (code generation, automated review, test generation, CI/CD, error analysis, optimisation, AI integration security) — stated as pretest, unscored

How it's scored

You can fail a whole domain and still pass

AWS uses a compensatory model: you need to pass the exam overall, not each section. Your score is scaled 100–1000 with 720 to pass.

Unanswered questions are scored as incorrect and there's no guessing penalty, so there is never a reason to leave one blank.

720
Your scaled score lands somewhere around690–750Could go either way

Now change nothing except which form you were given

Same answers. Harder form, higher scaled score — that's what scaling is for. It's also why nobody can tell you the percentage you need.

Positions here are illustrative. AWS publishes the 100–1,000 scale and the 720 pass mark, but not the conversion from raw answers — which is the point. When a number can't be known exactly, a range is the honest way to report it.

Question types

Two question types, and one of them is where exams are lost

Multiple choice

One correct answer, three distractors. The bulk of the exam.

Multiple response

Two or more correct out of five or more options. Select every correct response to get the mark.

The guide names two response types. Distractors are designed to be plausible — the option a candidate with incomplete knowledge would pick.

A Lambda function creates a new DynamoDB SDK client inside the handler on every invocation. Under sustained traffic, every invocation carries the client initialization cost, not just the first.

Which change removes that cost from most invocations?

Enable provisioned concurrency on the function's alias.
Move the client instantiation outside the handler, into the initialization code.
Increase the function timeout.
Package the SDK in a Lambda layer instead of the deployment bundle.

Initialization code runs once per execution environment. Warm invocations reuse the client rather than rebuilding it. Domain: Development with AWS Services.

What you get back

Not a prediction. A distance from the line.

Your readiness is a range, because it's an inference from the questions you've answered rather than a result you've earned. For a certification the outcome is binary, so the only question that matters is whether the whole range sits above 720.

Three states

Try the three states. We won't show you a percentage chance of passing — nobody can calculate one honestly without years of real outcomes to calibrate against.

What it actually tests

Four domains, and the weights aren't even

DVA-C02 domain weights
DomainWeightWhat it covers
Development with AWS Services32%The biggest block. Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SDKs, and how you write against them.
Security26%Credentials, encryption, IAM roles for applications — not administering users and groups.
Deployment24%Shipping versions. Traffic shifting, infrastructure as code, and what happens when a deploy fails.
Troubleshooting and Optimization18%Traces, logs, and why a request is slow. The smallest domain, and the one people skip.

AWS publishes these as exact figures rather than ranges, and they apply to scored content. Last checked against the exam guide on 15 September 2026.
