Four domains, weighted the way AWS weights them. 50 questions count toward your score and 15 don't. Multiple-response items enforced properly, because that's where marks go missing. Free to start.

A company transfers a large, steady volume of data between its own datacenter and AWS every day. It needs consistent network performance and a connection that does not traverse the public internet.
Which service meets both requirements? Select one.
One choice only. Your earliest pick was dropped.
An original item written against the AWS exam guide, last checked 13 September 2026. Not a real exam question.
Scope
The exam guide describes the target candidate as someone with up to six months of exposure to AWS, and then lists what that candidate is not expected to do. Coding is out of scope. So is designing cloud architecture, troubleshooting, implementation, and load and performance testing.
That matters because most free CLF-C02 material is written by people preparing for associate-level exams, and it pulls you into depth the exam never asks for.
| You're expected to | You're not expected to |
|---|---|
| Explain the value of the AWS Cloud | Write code |
| Understand the shared responsibility model | Design cloud architecture |
| Understand the Well-Architected Framework | Troubleshoot |
| Understand security best practices | Implement |
| Understand AWS costs, economics and billing | Run load and performance tests |
| Describe and position core compute, network, database and storage services | |
| Identify AWS services for common use cases |
AWS also publishes in-scope and out-of-scope service lists. Every question we write stays inside them, so you're never revising a service the exam won't ask about.
Scoring
The exam has 65 questions, but only 50 affect your score. The other 15 are being trialled for future use, they aren't marked, and there's no way to tell which is which — so treat every question as if it counts.
Your result comes back as a scaled score from 100 to 1,000, and 700 passes. Because it's scaled, 700 isn't the same as answering 70% correctly. AWS also uses a compensatory model: you don't need to pass each domain, only the exam overall.
Unanswered questions are scored as incorrect and there's no penalty for guessing, so never leave one blank.
Accuracy by domain, weighted as the exam weights them
One domain well under the rest, and still a pass. AWS scores compensatorily: only the overall result decides it.
700 isn't 70%. AWS's scaled score isn't a percentage, and a weak domain doesn't fail you on its own.
AWS's score report may include a section-level breakdown, but its own guide advises caution in interpreting it. A domain score from a single sitting is a small sample, which is the same reason we report your readiness as a range rather than a number.

HardA company runs applications on Amazon EC2 instances and stores data in Amazon RDS databases. A reviewer asks which security responsibilities belong to the company in both cases.
Which two are the customer's responsibility for both services? Select two.
Security groups and data classification stay with the customer on both EC2 and RDS. OS patches move with the service, and the hypervisor is always AWS. Domain: Security and Compliance.

What you get back
Your readiness is a range, because it's an inference from the questions you've answered rather than a result you've earned. For a certification the outcome is binary, so the only question is whether the whole range sits above 700. While it straddles the line, you're a coin flip, and we'll say so.
Where you stand
Borderline

Your range crosses the pass mark. On today's evidence it's a coin flip.
Three states
Try the three states. We won't show you a percentage chance of passing — nobody can calculate one honestly without years of real outcomes to calibrate against.

Domains
AWS publishes exact weights as a share of scored content, so our mocks can match the real mix rather than approximate it.
| Domain | Weight |
|---|---|
| Cloud Technology and Services | 34% |
| Security and Compliance | 30% |
| Cloud Concepts | 24% |
| Billing, Pricing, and Support | 12% |
Weights are exact rather than ranges, because AWS publishes them that way. Last checked against the exam guide on 13 September 2026.
Security and Compliance plus Cloud Technology and Services is 64% of the scored content. If you have a limited week, that's where it goes.
Billing, Pricing and Support is the smallest domain at 12% — around six scored questions. It's also the one people over-revise, because it's the easiest to make flashcards for.
