Three domains, weighted the way Microsoft weights them. The objectives were refreshed in July 2026, so material written before then is already behind. Every question here is tagged to the domain it tests, and the outline date we wrote against is on this page.

A team stores reporting data in Azure Storage. The data must survive the loss of an entire region, and during such an outage analysts need to keep reading the secondary copy without waiting for a failover to be initiated.

Status
Microsoft retired a run of Azure exams through 2026 — AI-900, DP-100, AZ-204, AZ-500 — and replaced them with new codes. AZ-900 wasn't among them. It stayed, and instead received an objectives refresh on 20 July 2026 that touched the compute and networking, resource deployment and monitoring sub-domains while leaving the three domain weights unchanged.
That still matters for your prep. A refresh doesn't renumber the exam, so stale material doesn't announce itself — a guide written in 2025 still says AZ-900 on the cover.
| Exam | Status |

| AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals | Current, refreshed July 2026 |
| AI-900 Azure AI Fundamentals | Retired 30 Jun 2026 → AI-901 |
| DP-100 Azure Data Scientist | Retired 1 Jun 2026 |
| AZ-204 Azure Developer | Retired 31 Jul 2026 → AI-200 |
| AZ-500 Azure Security Engineer | Retired 31 Aug 2026 |

Scope
Microsoft's skills outline for AZ-900 does not name Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Fabric, Azure OpenAI, or the Responsible AI principles. A lot of third-party question banks still add them in depth — material that belongs to AI-901, the separate AI fundamentals exam.
Over-revising out-of-scope topics at the expense of the three domains that are weighted is one of the most common ways a first attempt goes wrong.
Our bank is generated against the published outline and nothing else. Where something sits outside it, we leave it out rather than pad the count.
Scoring
Microsoft reports technical exams on a scale of 1 to 1,000, and 700 or above passes. It's a scaled score, so it doesn't correspond to answering 70% of questions correctly — how many you need depends on the difficulty of the ones you were given.
There's no penalty for a wrong answer, so never leave one blank. Some questions are worth more than one point.
You answered
Now change nothing except which form you were given
Same answers. Harder form, higher scaled score — that's what scaling is for. It's also why nobody can tell you the percentage you need.
Positions here are illustrative. Microsoft publishes the 1–1,000 scale and the 700 pass mark, but not the conversion from raw answers — which is the point. When a number can't be known exactly, a range is the honest way to report it.

Very HardAn MCP server exposes eleven tools to a single agent. The agent frequently calls the wrong one and occasionally invents arguments that don't exist.
Which two changes address this most directly? Select two.
Both fixes reduce ambiguity at selection time. Temperature and retries change how the agent behaves after it has already chosen wrongly. Domain: Tool Design & MCP Integration.

What you get back
Your readiness is a range, because it's an inference from the questions you've answered rather than a result you've earned. For a certification the outcome is binary, so the only question is whether the whole range sits above 700. While it straddles the line, you're a coin flip, and we'll say so.
Where you stand
Borderline
530–720
Your range crosses the pass mark. On today's evidence it's a coin flip.
Three states
Try the three states. We won't show you a percentage chance of passing — nobody can calculate one honestly without years of real outcomes to calibrate against.
We won't show you a percentage chance of passing. Nobody can calculate one honestly without years of real outcomes behind it.
Domains
Microsoft publishes weights as ranges. Our mocks follow them, so a domain worth around a third of the exam gets around a third of the questions.
| Domain | Weight |
|---|---|
| Describe Azure architecture and services | 35–40% |
| Describe Azure management and governance | 30–35% |
| Describe cloud concepts | 25–30% |
Weights are ranges because Microsoft publishes them as ranges. Skills measured as of 20 July 2026.
The spread is narrow — roughly a quarter to two fifths each. There's no domain small enough to skip, which is unusual for a fundamentals exam and catches people who assume the concepts domain is the whole thing.
It has no general IT equivalent to fall back on — Cost Management, RBAC, Policy, locks and Monitor are Azure-specific and have to be learned rather than inferred.
The questions tend to ask which service fits a described situation, not what each service is.
